Letter from the BGSU Graduate Student Senate’s President and Vice Presidentgss logo rounded corners 2

Hello and welcome BGSU graduate students,

On behalf of Graduate Student Senate (GSS), we would like to recognize the incredible value you bring to the collective body of graduate students at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). As a graduate student at BGSU, you are joining a unique community of engaged and inclusive students and leaders. We hope that your experience at BGSU is meaningful and that you feel valued as a member of our shared legacy.

GSS is committed to representing and supporting the needs and interests of over 3000 graduate students. We consciously strive to build and maintain a culture of belonging and to enhance the experience for all graduate students.

Your voice and agency are integral to the success of the GSS, and for this reason, the Senator is a central element of the GSS. Each program/degree, as recognized by the graduate college, is eligible for Senator representation in the GSS and we hope you consider becoming a Senator. As a senator, you will:

  • Participate in shared governance
  • Learn more about the many issues and concerns effecting the graduate student population
  • Be directly involved in the decision-making process for GSS
  • Positively impact the graduate student experience
  • Represent graduate students on university committees, at university events, and/or in the community

If you are interested in GSS or would like to learn more about what we do, please feel free to contact us or join our monthly General Assembly (GA) meetings. GA meetings will take place in Olscamp 221 but can also be attended virtually via Zoom. We highly encourage you to contact your programs Senator or reach out to members of the Senate Executive Committee (SEC) to find ways to get involved. Your voice matters, your engagement will have an impact, and your presence is valuable.

We exist in service to the graduate student population and as such we are always open to your input. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact us at gss@72a5.com. We are looking forward to working with you this year!

Warm regards,
Graduate Student Senate's President
